Tea has been one of the staple beverage around India since centuries. With the evolving times, and people’s need to lead a healthy lifestyle has coerced them to include green tea in their everyday diet more than anything. What attracts consumers to green tea is its unique representation as a ‘superfood’. Superfoods are those food items that are exceptionally nutritious and good for one’s health. Green tea has garnered attention as a superfood because of its antioxidants rich quality. The leaves used in the preparation of green tea are unique as they are made from the dried leaves of the Camellia Sinensis plant, and are considered pure and good for health because of their production process that doesn’t undergo the withering and oxidation process that other teas go through. Green tea is distinct from other teas because of its un-oxidised leaves that contain high amounts of antioxidants and polyphenols, which are known to offer protective benefits to the body. What makes it a great superfood is its minimal amount of caffeine, that helps stimulate one's digestive system naturally and also burns fats at a much faster rate than regular tea. It contains a high amount of antioxidants and catechins that are present in the beverage and thus speeds up the metabolic rate and in turn, melts the abdominal fat. Green tea has multiple anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties that offer protection from cellular damage and inflammation, which lead to insulin imbalance. The catechins present in green tea can also sometimes decrease insulin resistance and increase insulin sensitivity to help manage diabetes in a better and more efficient way. Regular intake of this healthy beverage has major benefits in the long run. Along with some physical activity and alterations in one’s eating habits, green tea lowers the risk of heart problems tremendously. It does so by lowering the blood pressure and thus reducing the risk of stroke and coronary heart diseases. Superfoods are usually included in one’s diet to elevate the number of antioxidants in one’s body. One huge benefit of green tea is that it contains powerful antioxidants like gallic acid, p-coumaroylquinic acid etc., which fight free radicals that damage your cells. With the inclusion of green tea in your diet, you are ensuring the immunity from one of the most deadly diseases - Cancer, that is caused when the cells of the body undergo inflammation due to the oxidative stress.

The antioxidants present in green tea help fight the cancerous cells and also retain a healthy body. Several studies show that not only Cancer but the antioxidants present in green tea are said to also be beneficial in preventing many other chronic diseases by sharpening your brain and helping prevent neurodegenerative disorders like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's disease. If you’re looking for ways to strengthen your immune system then green tea is the right choice for you. It contains a high amount of phenolic compounds which helps make your immune system stronger naturally. They also have anti-microbial properties to assist in combating disease-causing pathogens and safeguard the host body from foreign infections. One of the benefits of green tea that is immensely highlighted is its quality to smoothen and help make one’s skin perfect by making it oil and grease-free. Green tea contains tannins that help in shrinking pores which reduces the secretion of sebum oil. The problem that people with the oily skin-type face is that their pores secrete higher amounts of sebum oil which later on mixes with dirt and bacteria and causes irritation and acne. Drinking green tea dries the pores internally, thus leaving you less prone to get acne. Green Tea also has exfoliating properties - by using dried green tea leaves that have an abrasive texture. One can reuse the boiled green tea leaves from your drink to make a DIY face mask, that will ensure to exfoliate your skin gently. This homemade facial scrub will help to eliminate dead, rough skin cells as well as excessive pollutants and oil that it contains. Dheer Shah, CEO, Samaara Tea, says,“Green tea is known throughout the world for its multitude of medicinal and health benefits. Due to this, green tea has a separate group of people that consume it daily to avail the benefits that it has in the long term. May it is the health benefits or skin benefits, green tea has become a household favourite in India since a few years. Keeping this in mind, Samaara Tea has been broadening its horizon of products and introduced a variety of flavours in green tea itself. This will help the tea connoisseurs to have a variety of products and flavours to choose from”
