Read More »01 of 08 LOOKING BACK AT HER PAST DIET STRUGGLES George Burns The legendary talk show host is not one to shy away when it comes to speaking about her diet and exercise struggles – and she proved just that during an April Super Soul Session. "I wanted to be thin," she revealed. "I wasted so much energy, energy and time wanting my thighs to be thin, for my arms not to flap. I had the success and the money but I was still wanting something different than I had." The true "a-ha" moment for Winfrey came when Weight Watchers asked to have her join the program. "It felt like an intervention from on high," she said, adding that she thought, "if they are calling me, I must need help!" 02 of 08 FRONTING O MAGAZINE WITH NINE OTHER WOMEN Sioux Nesi Oprah made history with the April 2016 issue of her eponymous magazine – fronting the cover alongside nine other women who also aim to live their best lives. "This month I join forces with a legion of women, all of us declaring a win-win for our bodies and ourselves," she says in the issue. "Because I know this for sure: With age comes the understanding and appreciation of your most important asset, your health." 03 of 08 JOINING WEIGHT WATCHERS New year, new lifestyle! Oprah Winfrey became a spokesperson for Weight Watchers in October 2015 after joining the program in August following her 17-lb. weight gain that same summer. "Every other time I've ever gone on a diet, I've gone on a diet and then gone off the diet, because I had gotten to the weight I'd wanted to be," Winfrey said. "The difference is, I've made the shift and this is the way I'm going to live for the rest of my life." As of Jan. 27, the talk show host had lost 26 lbs. (while still eating bread!). 04 of 08 GOING VEGAN FOR 21 DAYS Frazer Harrison/Getty Winfrey embarked on a 21-day vegan cleanse in 2011 with the guidance of New York Times best-selling vegan book author Kathy Freston. "I learned a lot about how animals are treated and mistreated before they get to our tables," Winfrey wrote in the October 2008 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. "It is appalling and beneath our humanity to allow the torture of animals for the sake of our gluttony. We've neglected basic human decency on such a large scale, and it really does bleed over into every other aspect of life." 05 of 08 FRONTING THE JANUARY 2009 COVER OF O, THE OPRAH MAGAZINE The talk show host courageously posed alongside a slimmer 2005 version of herself on the January 2009 issue of O, The Oprah Magazine. "I could oversee a show and a magazine that tell people how to live their best lives, but I definitely wasn't setting an example," she wrote inside the mag, citing her desire to lead a healthier lifestyle while also battling a thyroid problem that makes it increasingly difficult to lose weight. "My goal isn't to be thin. My goal is for my body to be the weight it can hold – to be strong and healthy and fit, to be itself. My goal is to learn to embrace this body and to be grateful every day for what it has given me."

"You've been a great friend to me, really," Oprah said to Greene on an episode of her show. "This guy has changed my life – affected my life – more than any other person on the planet." 07 of 08 ENLISTING CHEF ROSIE DALEY Not many people would associate eating clean with a flavorful experience – but that all changed for Winfrey when she met chef Rosie Daley at a health spa, sampling an unforgettable meal that was not only delicious but also low-fat and low-calorie. The talk show host immediately hired Daley as her personal chef and eventually scored a cookbook deal for Daley in 1994, which highlighted the star's favorite meals (Unfried French Fries and Creamy Corn Chowder) and became one of the best-selling cookbooks of all time.
