The leaf, stem, and seed are used to make medicine. Perilla is used for canker sores, airway illnesses, stomach issues, and other conditions. But there is no good scientific evidence to support any use. In foods, perilla is used as a flavoring, in tea, and to prevent fish and crab poisoning.
