When you see your mom’s photos of her younger days, you marvel at those long, silky tresses and then look at your own short hair with split ends. It seems so unfair, doesn’t it? In today’s time, when pollution is everywhere and stress is a part of everyday life, effects are seen on the skin and in hair aplenty. Weak hair, increased hair fall and thinner hair are the reality for most of us today. However, all is not lost! To fight weak hair and increase hair growth, you can use one of the most common kitchen ingredients that everyone has – lemons! The humble lemon’s uses go beyond garnishing culinary dishes. This citrus fruit is a good source of vitamin C and can help your hair in several ways, such as: naturally lightening the hair colour

improving hair growth

reducing dandruff

making hair shinier If you want long and shiny hair and have tried every product out there, then maybe you should try using lemon for hair growth!

Why You Should Use Lemon for Hair Growth

The high content of vitamin C in lemons boost collagen production, which in turn stimulates hair growth Rich in vital nutrients, regularly using lemon juice strengthens hair follicles and encourages hair growth Acidic in nature, lemon clears the build-up from the scalp. This build-up blocks hair follicles, preventing hair growth. Antifungal properties of lemon get rid of dandruff, which is a major contributor of hair loss Lemon juice restores the pH balance of the scalp, maintaining the health of the scalp and hair

How to Use Lemon for Hair Growth?

This versatile ingredient can be used in many ways to boost hair growth – as a cleanser and a hair mask combined with other beneficial natural ingredients. However, if you are using lemon for hair growth, remember that it has natural bleaching properties and it may lighten the colour of your hair. Use wisely as per your hair type and requirements.

Here are the several ways you can use lemon for hair growth:

Lemon Juice, Castor Oil and Olive Oil Mask

When talking about hair growth, how can we not mention castor oil? One of the best oils, castor oil, when combined with lemon works perfectly for hair growth. Rich in antioxidants and full of antibacterial properties, castor oil boosts blood circulation to the scalp and rejuvenates dull and damaged hair. It also gives relief from hair breakage and split ends, which are the major factors that hinder hair growth. Olive oil, on the other hand, is full of vitamins and fatty acids that stimulate hair growth, nourish hair follicles and strengthen hair strands. The presence of omega-6 and omega-9 fatty acids in the oil prevents moisture loss from the hair while antimicrobial properties of olive oil keep dandruff and bacterial infections at bay. Can you imagine, when these two nutrient-rich oils are combined with lemon for hair growth, how insanely beneficial it would be? Try it out for yourself! Feel free to use it twice a week.
